Chopsticks Recycling Programme
It is estimated that in Singapore alone, approximately 500,000 chopsticks are discarded each day. ChopValue recognises that these chopsticks can be reutilised as a resource to develop novel engineered materials, which can then be converted into products.ChopValue collects discarded disposable chopsticks through their recycling program with their partners, bring it back to their local 2000 sqft micro-factory for re-manufacture and design. Stessen Chia is the owner of Corridor Greens, nestled in the vibrant west of Singapore. By profession, he is a motion graphic designer, but amidst the bustling cityscape, he has discovered his sanctuary in cultivating a tiny farm at home. Stessen's love for gardening took root in his childhood, blessed with teachers who introduced him to the wonders of hydroponics and traditional soil-based gardening. These early experiences laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion.
For Stessen, urban farming goes beyond simply growing food. It’s about fostering connections and nurturing life in unexpected corners. His journey involves self-discovery and finding creative ways to breathe life into mundane passageways, transforming them with lush veggies and aromatic herbs. To him, Corridor Greens is a gift that keeps on giving.
Semula is a local startup specialising in collecting, processing and refreshing plastic waste into functional products that can the material a second life.
Stessen and Jeryl from Semula are secondary school mates that are reconnected through sustainability. Stessen was looking for a durable and sustainable planter and Semula is happy to give plastic a second life through a durable planter. Hence, the collaboration.

By profession, he is a motion graphic designer, but amidst the bustling cityscape, he has discovered his sanctuary in cultivating a tiny farm at home. Stessen's love for gardening took root in his childhood, blessed with teachers who introduced him to the wonders of hydroponics and traditional soil-based gardening. These early experiences laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion.
For Stessen, urban farming goes beyond simply growing food. It’s about fostering connections and nurturing life in unexpected corners. His journey involves self-discovery and finding creative ways to breathe life into mundane passageways, transforming them with lush veggies and aromatic herbs. To him, Corridor Greens is a gift that keeps on giving.
Semula is a local startup specialising in collecting, processing and refreshing plastic waste into functional products that can the material a second life.
Stessen and Jeryl from Semula are secondary school mates that are reconnected through sustainability. Stessen was looking for a durable and sustainable planter and Semula is happy to give plastic a second life through a durable planter. Hence, the collaboration.
Some of the materials required for The Garden such as cup holders and planters are provided by Semula.
